Bicycle Travel Cases

Your dream bicycle tour is in Europe and your bicycle is not. What about bicycle travel cases? The airline says just use one of their travel containers. Your buddy says to go down to your local bike shop and get a used bicycle box. Neither one is my recommendation. Fortunately, you have many options when it comes to secure bicycle cases.

  1. Will McCrary says

John, thanks for the info. Do you have any experience actually using these boxes? How does a touring bike fit in these cases? Do any of them accomodate racks/fenders/extra room for panniers/etc?

I’m looking to fly with my Salsa Vaya this summer and these cases are so expensive I definitly want to make the right choice!

    Thanks,

    Will McCrary

    • Hi Will,

Unfortunately John doesn’t write for us anymore. But I know he DOES have experience using those boxes. He used them for a lot of tours.

Not sure if they accommodate panniers though and your additional baggage. My hunch is no.

      Cheers,

      Perry
